being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus
Glimpses of Eternity

What’s this all about? I got this idea from this post as I was writing it. Equally inspirational was a recent facebook conversation with a friend of mine, who reminded me, that when faced with the temptation to fall into worldly desires (the discussion was on handbags and shoes), she stuck with the motto: “not eternal? not essential.”
Romans 1:20 tells us that “… since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse”
Glimpses of Eternity are the little (and in some cases, big) things we get to see on a daily basis that point to what lasts. They come in many shapes and sizes: a gentle answer, a brilliant sunset, an answered prayer, a child’s laugh, the changing of the seasons, unexplained joy in suffering. They help us remember that this is not our home and our destination is a much better place.
Here are a few of the glimpses I witnessed this week:
Playing at the park with my girls, while enjoying the sunshine.
The changing of the colors. Red leaves are my particular favorite.
The overwhelming “coincidences” (I put that in quotes because I don’t really believe that there is such a thing as coincidence) that are leading my husband and I to a very important decision. We’ve been praying about it for a few years now and it seems that we are receiving our answer.
So what glimpses of eternity has God give you this week?
